Dear Colleague,

on *Wednesday Jan. 20*, starting at *1345h*, Willemien Ekkelkamp
(CWI/UL; presently at Thales) will defend her PhD thesis at Leiden
University. It's entitled ``On the Amount of Sieving in Factorization
Methods'' (advisors R Tijdeman (UL), H. te Riele (CWI), A. Lenstra
(EPFL)).

The location is *Academie-gebouw, Rapenburg 73, Leiden*.

On this occasion there will be a RISC seminar on ``Computational Number
Theory related to Cryptology'' (organizer: Herman te Riele) at the
Mathematical Institute, Leiden University, from *1015h until 1205h*. The
precise schedule is given below.

We are very pleased to announce that *Prof Paul Zimmerman (INRIA) and Dr
Peter Montgomery (Microsoft)* have agreed to gives the lectures in this
seminar.
