Dear Colleague,

you are cordially invited to attend this year's edition of ``CWI in
Business,''
co-billed as a RISC seminar. The event is organized by CWI Cryptology
Group, in collaboration with TNO.

It takes place on *Monday, September 13, 1000h-1245h* (NL-time).

The theme is ``Secure Multi-party Computation.''

Our *keynote speaker* is *Dr. Marcel Keller* (CSIRO, Sydney), who will
talk about his widely-used
  open-source MPC-package called MP-SPDZ.

For access, registration is required.
The registration link is found on the event-website:

PROGRAM:
========

The scientific area of secure multi-party computation offers a
cryptographic approach for privacy-protecting secure data sharing and
-processing. This area is gaining worldwide recognition as a potential
solution to an increasing number of applications, for instance in health
and finance.

During the last decade, many scientific results contributed to
significant improvements of the efficiency of these techniques, thereby
bringing MPC further towards maturity. On the other hand, the
development of big data and artificial intelligence has established a
growing need for secure data analysis mechanisms on distributed
sensitive data. A further incentive is given by the requirements of the
European privacy laws (GDPR).

During this event, we will give a scientific overview of the field, and
present a number of use cases that were solved by means of MPC. We will
touch on the entire spectrum from fundamental and applied research to
applications and spin-offs.

The program:

-------------------------------------
10.00-10.30 Introduction by Ronald Cramer & Lisa Kohl (CWI)

10.30-11.05 Guest speaker Marcel Keller (CSIRO's Data61): MP-SPDZ - A
versatile framework for multi-party computation

11.05-11.25 Panel discussion Ronald Cramer, Lisa Kohl & Marcel Keller:
MPC fundamentals

11.25-11.40 Break

11.40-11.55 Thijs Veugen (TNO/CWI): An overview of present and future
MPC applications

11.55-12.10 Mark Abspoel (CWI): Improving HIV treatment choice with
multi-party computation

12.10-12.25 Martine van de Gaar (Linksight): Linksight, a TNO spin-off

12.25-12.45 Panel discussion Thijs Veugen, Martine van de Gaar, Thomas
Attema (TNO/CWI) & Marcel Keller: MPC use cases

12.45 End of program
------------------------------------------------

Hope to see you then and there!

Best regards,

Ronald Cramer (CWI & Leiden U) and Thijs Veugen (TNO & CWI)
