The Second European Summer School on Trusted Infrastructure Technologies
(ETISS) will take place this year at Ruhr-University Bochum in Germany.

Main goal:
**********
The main goal of ETISS is to bring together industry, academic and
government researchers in new and emerging fields of information
security. The 5-day long program aims to provide an insight into Trusted
Infrastructure Technologies through a variety of lectures, practical
assignments and research workshops. The lectures will be held by
speakers from industry, academia and governments and consider a wide
range of related subjects including Secure Operating Systems, Trusted
Computing and related cryptographic techniques, and True Random Number
Generators. The afternoon sessions will mainly start with practical
assignments for the students and be completed with research workshops on
recent results in Trusted Infrastructure Technologies.

This year ETISS will be organized in close cooperation with the EU
project ECRYPT (European Network of Excellence for Cryptology), in
particular with the ECRYPT working groups for cryptographic protocols
(PROVILAB) and cryptographic implementation (VAMPIRE).

We look forward to hosting students and leading researchers to provide
tuition and hold an European research dialog on questions of IT security
for next generation Information Infrastructure Technologies.

Student Funding:
****************
Extensive financial sponsorship will be provided for a selected number
of students from European Universities whose applications are submitted
by a research department.

Content of Lectures:
********************
The lectures will focus on different aspects of system security and
cryptographic methods and schemes related to Trusted Computing
functionalities. The topics are:

- -	Secure Operating Systems
- -	Trusted Computing in hardware (cryptographic co-processor) and
	software (Trusted Software Stack)
- -	New processor generations
- -	Group signatures
- -	Cryptographic protocols for privacy preserving Trusted Computing
- -	True Random Number Generators

Practical Assignments:
**********************
The theoretical lectures of the summer school will be accompanied by
practical exercises for the students in a computer laboratory. Two
different laboratories will be offered during the summer school, one
focusing on accessing and using the TPM and experimenting with some of
its main functionalities including Chain of Trust, and the other one
considering operating systems and virtualization.

Research Workshops:
*******************
To facilitate discussions in the research workshops we encourage
researchers to submit an extended abstract of their current research
related to Trusted Infrastructure Technologies.
